2009 EDCAR Charity Golf Classic Raises Over $8,000 for “Backpacks for Kids”

The 2009 El Dorado County Association of REALTORS “Charity Golf Classic” raised over $8,000 for our cause, “Backpacks for Kids”.  Sincere thanks to all those who sponsored, volunteers, played in, and otherwise supported our event to make it such a success!  Please check back regularly at www.edcar4kids.com for continuous updates on our efforts and news about the 2010 “Charity Golf Classic”, which will be September 13, 2010 (the Monday following Labor Day).

Tournament Sold Out As Of Today! 120 Registered Players!

As of today, the 2009 EDCAR Charity Golf Tournament is sold out!  We now have 120 registered players, which was our goal and overall limit.  We are very pleased to have reached our objective, and many thanks to those who are playing in the tournament and those who helped to promote the event and encourage the sale of tickets.

With the tournament scheduled to take place one week from today, we will now strive to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible for both players and sponsors.

Video: Delivery of Backpacks to Child Protective Services, “Backpacks for Kids”

Concurrent with our planning for the 2009 EDCAR Charity Golf Tournament in recent months, we have been buying and collecting material for our “Backpacks for Kids” program, and have been putting together these special backpacks.

We completed our latest batch of backpacks this week, which were brought to our Shingle Springs Tour Meeting yesterday so that other real estate professionals could see what we have put together.

Following the meeting, we delivered these backpacks – about 70 in total – to Child Protective Services in Placerville.

In an effort to memorialize this so that other members of our community can have a sense of what we are doing, and the importance of this initiative, we videotaped some of this to give everyone a chance to understand the impact of what we do.

Bank of America has signed on as a Corporate Sponsor for our charity golf tournament, which is the highest level of sponsorship, and have also registered to be the Putting Contest Sponsor.

The net proceeds from this event will be used to manage our program and buy goods to put together our own age and gender-specific backpacks for children in El Dorado County. These backpacks are distributed by Child Protective Services case workers.

Roseville Termite & Pest Control has signed on as a Corporate Sponsor for our charity golf tournament, which is the highest level of sponsorship, and have also registered to be a Hole Sponsor.

We greatly appreciate the support of our event and cause, the “Backpacks for Kids” program.

In addition to signing up as a Corporate Sponsor, Roseville Pest & Termite Control also donated the four player tickets included in that package back to EDCAR.  These tickets were given away at our two Association meetings in Diamond Springs and Shingle Springs this week.  The four winners are:

More Backpacks for Kids Put Together For Next Delivery To Child Protective Services

We have recently started to put together more backpacks for kids, so I thought I would share this photo to show these off before they are sent off to help children at Child Protective Services:

These are all prepared to be age and gender specific, and filled with a variety of items to help the children through very trying times and experiences.

“Hole in One” Prize – Brand New 2009 Polaris Ranger RZR S

We are pleased to announce that our “hole in one” prize for the tournament is a brand new 2009 Polaris Ranger RZR S.   Tournament sponsors Rick and Rose Grove of Placerville Polaris and “The Palmer Team” with Summit Funding has made this prize possible, which is valued at nearly $16,000 in the event a player makes a hole in one at hole 17 during the tournament.

Other “hole in one” prizes include a set of Nike golf clubs, a $500 Visa gift card, and a Bose stereo system.

Live Auction Item – El Dorado County Foothills Winery Limo Tour!

We are pleased to announce that one of our live auction items is an escape by limo trip to popular El Dorado County wineries.  Tournament sponsor “The Palmer Team” with Summit Funding has donated this item for our charity event, which is valued at over $600.

This will be a no minimum bid live auction .  The prize includes a day long excursion with lunch and mimosas by limousine.
